"SURVIVAL UNDER PLASTIC"

In the southern Spanish region of Almeria, vegetables (hot peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, etc.) are grown on an area of about 35,000 hectares and exported mainly to us in Central Europe. The area under cultivation is growing continuously and is considered the largest plastic sea in Europe. In addition, the scarcity of water is becoming more and more of a problem. The greenhouses are located between the coast and the Sierra Nevada. I am interested in the interfaces between the plastic worlds and the desert-like surroundings. But also the workers who harvest vegetables under slave-like conditions and often live under self-made plastic dwellings.
