Artist's Statement

Foeteli mache

Upon first hearing the expression “Foeteli” shortly after arriving in Switzerland, I got very angry. Li, being a diminutive in the Swiss German vocabulary, seemed to diminish the value of an art form I was, and still am very passionate about. I asked myself, "why don’t they call paintings “Gemäldeli” or Sculptures “Plastikli?” But time heals all wounds!! And so you could say that the once dreaded expression, Föteli, is actually the inspiration for this collection of photographs.
